Mr. Aidan Manning is a Consultant Breast and General Surgeon at University Hospital Waterford. A graduate of University College Cork, Mr. Manning trained as a surgeon in Ireland and also in the United States, where he completed a fellowship programme in Breast Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Mr. Manning was also awarded a Medical Doctorate (MD) degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) for his research on the genes involved in breast cancer metastases. He continues to pursue his interest in breast cancer research and has authored and co-authored many original research papers.
Mr. Manning is specialised in the diagnosis and management of both benign and malignant breast disease, with a special interest in oncoplastic breast conservation surgery, sentinel lymph node biopsy, skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomy, and breast reconstruction. Mr. Manning also has an interest in breast cancer screening for women with a strong family history of breast cancer.
